One member of the Bar through loop email pledged for donation for the Palestinian victims of war recently.
There are members of the Bar together with many I spoke to blame Hamas and many more reckons the donation should not confine to Palestinian alone.
Below is my open letter to those skeptics.
Dear All,
I must express my disappointment when there are pledged for donation for the palestinian war victims, there are those among us who are missing the point by reminding donations are for all and not palestinians alone or Hamas is no angel either and the Bar should not take sides.
Its either you give or you don't. A gift is a gift, a donation is a donation no matter how big or small. As for now the immediate relief are for the Palestinian victims of war.
Why are you missing the point all the time?
Similarly, as we sit at mamak restaurant, we from time to time were approached by the many faces of those asking for donations, its either we gift or we brush them off. And if we give, sincerely, we should not question whether the money goes to proper channel or not, all the more being suspicious about how the money being spent.
As the saying goes "Apabila tangan kanan memberi, tangan kiri tak nampak".
Let us be reminded, the Palestinian did not ask for our donation.
We as human must be humane when we see others in need.

(1) The bar council sounds more and more like a political party than a bar council. Tell them to get on with the program instead of being anti establishment all the time and taking potshots at every possible issue, good or bad.
(2) mentri besar of Selangor is also missing the point by asking people to be careful with what they boycot. Rationale is that it will also hurt Malaysian businesses. If that is the case, so be it. Not everything that we do must be analyze from a corporate perspective. There needs to be sacrifices and compassion.
the menteri besar of selangor doesnt like people as we all know it. He doesnt like shaking hands of visits victims of poverty.
He track records shows he only care about numbers, how to safe money and how to increase profit, compassion and sacrifice are for nerds.
